Is it Over Yet?

So close to the end and I am completely out of ideas. We have company in town for the rest of the weekend so that is where I will be. We are hitting up a hockey game this evening and hopefully somewhere yummmy for dinner. Good gravy its hard to blog under pressure and without any profound or intelligent things to say...I think I am still recovering from Black Friday!

Can I Just Say...

how incredibly blessed I feel to be spending the second set of holidays with my entire little family! Two in a row is the most we have ever had, how sad is that! I even made apple pie...I don't even like apple pie, but this one smells delicious! It probably ain't gonna be the prettiest one there but it certainly will be in competition for the yummiest!

Good Lordy!!!

The holidays are upon us!

The commisery was a nightmare! Its funny how everyone seems to eat the same crap so everything you need is already GONE! What a zoo. I arrived with my little list and pre-cut coupons for all my items...yeah right. The hell with the coupons, I just wanted to make it out of there with both children and my life!

Yeah, and what is with the "premature" comments about Delainey? Seriously, 4 people have approached me, on different occasions, to ask me if she was born premature! Does she really seem that tiny?

Other baby girl news...she is up on all fours and darn close to running away on her knees! Also, she is the bestest baby I have ever known...seriously, you lay her in the crib and walk away and she goes to SLEEP! What, what? I love her!

Ise asked me today to turn on my wind stripers (windshield wipers)...crazy kid. I love how he hears a word and then tries to use it but doesn't actually know the word. Too cute!

Feeling a Bit Nostalgic

Last night I went to my friend's house to celebrate her and her daughter being baptized that morning during the service. Her daughter, whom is twelve was giving me a tour of the house. When we came to her room, I was immediately taken back by the alarming volume of Jonas Brothers pictures, posters and memorabilia adorning the walls! I swear, there was not one square inch of bare wall in that room. It made me feel so OLD! Has it already been 15 years since I was that age and my walls were covered in New Kids on the Block? Where does the time go? It seriously brought tears to my eyes for two reasons, #1. I sort of miss being that innocent, young girl who seriously believed that Jon Knight had it going on and was the perfect specimen of a man for me and #2. because dear Lord, someday Delaniums is gonna have that crap plastered all over her walls in her room featuring the latest and greatest boy band!

Today I

1. Watched my baby girl pull herself up into a crawl position..WTH?

2. Ripped the carpet off the stairs. Probably wasn't the best timing as we have company coming on Friday and Luke wasn't ready for me to do that yet, but the carpet was really grating my nerves and quite disgusting. Plus, the bare stairs kind of give the house an eclectic look.

3. Said Ise's full name at a minimum of 134,856 times...and probably only five of those times were praise!

4. Watched a documentary on the Jonestown Murder Massacre. Lord have mercy, some people really can be lead astray!

5. Got down on my hands and knees and scrubbed the kitchen floor!

A Little Inspiration to Us All!

Go here, and read the article. The woman they speak of is Ise's preschool teacher from last year. She is an amazing woman. A young, beautiful, faithful single mother of three girls with a passion and love for all God's children and an advocate and voice for military widows. She was the blessing I prayed for when putting Ise in preschool last year. She has inspired me in so many ways and I hardly know her. I cannot say enough nice things about her, I only wish her many blessings and happiness, for she has already blessed my life in so many ways.

Ise: "A girl in my class."

Me: "Is she nice?"

Ise: "Yeah, it's not like her is evil."

Ise: "Mom, when I get bigger like blue daddy, when I am really big, and I have my monster truck and if you are not dead yet, I will take you for a ride."

It's that Time Again!

Get out those shoe boxes and give the gift of friendship and love to children all over the world! Operation Christmas Child brings joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love. Since 1993, more than 61 million shoe boxes have been packed, shipped, and delivered across the globe. People of all ages can be involved in this simple, hands-on missions project while focusing on the true meaning of Christmas—Jesus Christ.
This mission is near and dear to my heart and has always been a joyful and fulfilling experience to do with Ise. Each year we full two boxes, one for a boy and one for a girl in his age group. I feel it is even more important this year as I heard on the news a few weeks ago that charitable donations have plummeted this year due to the economy. I urge you to visit the website and review their mission and may you be blessed this Christmas season, for giving is always more rewarding than receiving!
National Collection Week is November 17-24.

On My Soapbox

A man cannot be pregnant. No man has ever given birth. A genetically altered woman gave birth recently and apparently is pregnant again. But, please understand, she is not a man! Men do not give birth!!!! If you are a man, you do not have birthing parts, it defies nature. "He" is a she that is taking hormones, that does not make her a man.

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

Delainey is some what of a pill these days. If you put her on a mat, she immediately rolls completely off of it and then screams bloody murder until you place her back on it....only to repeat the same event not five seconds later!
She has also taken up a new noise. Think pirate tiger. Its kind of a deep throat roar that she does when she is excited or just wants attention but mostly when she wants what you are eating.

Went to the gym today and for a run...I am quite proud of both feats as I had to take the children with me for both activities. I give both children much props though as they very quietly and politely sat on a mat at the little gym and waited patiently for me. Ise even cheered me on a couple of times.

Tomorrow Ise goes back to school, Delaniums and I hit the gym and then we will come home and continue our spring cleaning we have been doing for months. It seems the more I give to goodwill, the more stuff seems to appear out of nowhere. Well, everything except for that darn blanket...which is NOWHERE TO BE FOUND!

I found the counter tops I want. They are perfect. The only problem is they blow the budget out of the water and actually come close to doubling the budget.

Ah well, I have one kid screaming into a blanket and another bouncing off the walls so I better get back to screaming and ranting, it doesn't seem to help much around here but it is great for the lungs!

The Real American Heroes

A few days ago when the kids and I were traveling back from Florida, we stopped at a McDonald's in southern South Carolina. As it turns out, it was right outside of Parris Island were all US Marines go for boot camp. Ise and I choose a booth and sat down to begin eating. Right behind Ise's head I could see a freshly graduated, newly pinned private in the USMC. He looked like a baby. On his right was his father and his left, his mother. The kid could not stop smiling and I could not take my eyes off of him. Seeing him in his new uniform brought back so many memories for me. I thought about how my husband once was that young boy adventuring off into the unknown. Perhaps a little nervous for what was too come but anxious for adventure far beyond what the walls of his hometown could offer him. I sat there listening intently to his conversation about chow hall procedures, gun range successes and the different personalities of his drill instructors. I thought about what it felt like to be that age and feel so free and full of life. To feel like you were stepping out into the wild blue yonder and taking flight, destination unknown but anxious to get there nonetheless. The young Marine seemed confident, he sat up straight and spoke with pride about his accomplishments. Listening to him speak with his parents and beam with pride, I couldn't help but look at my sweet little man in front of me and smile. Someday, my baby boy might make that decision to join the service, to support his country and put his life on the line for so many. I am not sure how one handles that as a parent because some days as a spouse it seems like too much to bear. I can only imagine having those same feelings for my child, the little boy that brings so much light into my life. I quietly said a prayer for that Marine and his family while they sat across from me eating their lunch. I prayed that his service in the Marine Corps would be blessed and that he would be safe wherever he may find himself. I prayed that he would look up when things seemed too much to bear. I prayed that his parents and siblings would have peace and know that he was safe in the hands of our heavenly father. But mostly, I thanked God that there are still young men and woman today that are willing to offer so much to this great nation of ours, even in the bleakest of times. May all our military veterans know just how much they mean to America and may they be honored on this Veteran's day, God Bless you all!
